We have faced another problem.
When Jon made our small prototype we were pleased to see how the idea would work and once attaching the motor it worked really well.
However the problem we're faced with is that the motor is not very powerful.
At first we thought it wouldn't matter as we can just use cardboard again for the bigger model.
At first we thought it wouldn't matter as we can just use cardboard again for the bigger model.
But this proved problems as we are dealing with external variables that we have no control over, those being the weight of the item being recycled.
For example once we have the large hippo set up if we put a cola can in front of it to recycle the weight of the cola can could potentially bend the cardboard. Anything heavier and the mouth may not be able to move.
As we cannot afford to make the hippo from expensive materials and production processes, we have decided that this design will be for paper recycling.
A hippo for any home bin.
We believe that although this model will be for paper recycling, future models can be built from other materials; such as formed plastic, which could recycle heavier items.
