How our research aided our Design

From our previous study research we decided that a hippo which can be put on top of an ordinary bin would be more popular to consumers.
This was particularly evident with the projects in which people painted their bins and transformed them into pieces of art.

Although other bins where popular such as the Wesley Scott bin, they were brand new bins which would replace older bins. This becomes a problem in terms of finance.

We also found from our product research that our idea of having a moving hippo will be a good idea and will interest people to recycle more.
Similar projects were again the Wesley Scott musical bin which played sounds when children recycled. Other bins implemented into schools reward kindergarten classes when they recycled the most.
A similar project to ours we believe was the one done by the university students which had LEDS which turned on when the motion sensor was activated.

in terms of the environmental research we have released that their are a few variables which will affect the hippos. We need to think about what materials the final product would use, these materials would need to be weather conditions. We will also need to consider the interactivity of people with the hippo. We need to think about how we shall maintain the durability of the hippos.
For our final prototype it is unlikely we shall use the materials the manufactured model would use, this is mainly due to the price of materials and manufacturing.
